Background:Birth of IEEE1888 and Japan-China collaboration

・IEEE1888 is an open communication standard developed for the next generation BEMS and smart grid by the University of Tokyo Green ICT Project (GUTP).

・By Japan-China collaboration, a demonstration experiment was conducted at Tsinghua University and Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing, China in 2010, and IEEE1888 was standardized internationally in 2011.

・The energy management system for which IEEE1888 was utilized was introduced into University of Tokyo and Tokyo Institute of Technology, and reduction in energy consumption was achieved.

Story:Demonstration Project of Improving Efficiency Technologies / Systems of International Energy Consumption 
Energy-saving Building Demonstration Project (Shanghai, China)

・New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has administered several international demonstration projects. These projects aim to contribute to strengthening international competitiveness of Japanese companies and solving global environmental problems by the implementation of Japan’s advanced energy conservation and environmental technologies under the cooperation of the partner country government and organizations.

・Three companies, Yasui Architects & Engineers, Inc. , Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd., and Sanki Engineering Co., Ltd., received consignment from NEDO, and began their preparation for demonstration operation with various vendors joined in 2013.

・Various energy-saving equipment has been introduced to the research facility (Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research Facility) constructed in Shanghai by the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

・Cimx Corporation was in charge of OpenBEMS (ESP Dragon) conforming based on IEEE1888.

・The completion ceremony of the new research facility was held in the summer of 2017.

・In the demonstration operation after completion, about 40% reduction in primary energy consumption has been achieved.

・Extraction of natural energy: geothermal heat, the energy willbe used in precooling and preheating.

・Introduction of next generation BEMS using international communication standard IEEE1888.

・Wireless dimming control of high efficiency LED lighting interlocked with human sensor and individual control of outlet.

・Reduction of air conditioning energy by the usage of highly efficient inverter turbo chiller, variable flow system, low temperature regenerative dehumidifying air conditioner (sorption type desiccant air conditioner).

・Introduction of a heat pump type hot water machine that collects exhaust heat from a turbo refrigerator and uses it as a heating heat source.
